The reason you've come across this blog, might have been that you are looking at an alternative way of physical activity. Indoor workout sessions, whether in the gym or at home, benefit from usage of equipments, mainly large cardio machines and weight lift sets. The other biggest benefit is that you can perform your routine whatever the weather, at time that suits you, whether 5am or 10pm.
However, outdoor exercise have many advantages too.
1. Connecting with the nature
When we workout in open space, we instantly connect with the nature. Sky is our roof, grass is our carpet, with bird chirping in background. We get to appreciate the fresh air, breeze, sunshine...even a bit of drizzle. You might notice that your senses become more susceptible while outdoors, which will have a positive effect on your performance.

2. It's more realistic
For cardio training, we will be able to run on different terrains, up and down hills, upwind or downwind. It's easy to track distance and progress with GPS device so widely used. For strength training, we will mainly use our body weight, which makes the workout simple and flexible.
3. Lowers blood pressure and reduces stress
Physical activity outdoors lowers a person's blood pressure and heart rate. As a result, exercise outdoors feels less strenuous than similar exercise indoors, which, in turn, pushes you closer to your maximum performance.
4. New way of socialising
We used to have a coffee and cake with friends for catch-ups. Perhaps it's a good time to socialise outdoors instead, going for a walk, a hike or join an outdoor group exercise together.

5. Boosts moods and better sleep
Many people feel a lot tension about working out and losing weight. Outdoor exercise is enjoyable and feels more like play than a chore. Outdoor exercise can help ward off depression and anxiety because sunshine naturally increases serotonin, a hormone that affects your mood. And exercise itself produces endorphins, another feel-good hormone that boosts your mood and reduces pain. Regular exercise and fresh air will also improve the quality of your sleep!

Hikes or trail runs will not just challenge us physically, but also test our planning skills, resilience under unexpected situations.

We tend to be more creative when we don't have much tools/equipments in hand. We also tend to enjoy it more when we come up with new funs ways to workout.
